Jeff Malecki


Jeff Malecki is happy to be accepted into the doctoral program at UNLV. Hailing from Michigan, he has degrees from Central Michigan University and VanderCook College of Music, studying conducting under John Williamson and Charles Menghini. While earning those degrees, he accepted honors including stints with the Orcestra Sinfonica de Trujillo in Peru and the City of Cambridge Brass Band in England, as well as soloing on the stage of Chicago’s Orchestra Hall. Moving to Arizona in 2003, Jeff has been director of bands at Sunnyslope High School in Phoenix where his bands and orchestra received many awards including 103.9’s “Giving Music the Edge” Award, as well as Valley Academy Charter School teaching grades four through eight. He has played with the Salt River Brass Band, Chandler Symphony, Tempe Symphonic Winds, and Arizona Wind Symphony among others. Professional affiliations include MENC and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Jeff will be living in Henderson with his dog, Jax.
