Markus Hahn was born and raised in a Forest Lake, Minnesota. He attended the University of Minnesota, where he was awarded the Chester E. and Marion Groth Honors Scholarship. Markus earned a Bachelor’s of Music Degree in Saxophone Performance while studying primarily with renowned classical saxophonist and pedagogue, Eugene Rousseau. Markus has additionally studied with Joseph Wytko, Kenneth Fischer, Russell Peterson, Anna Marie Wytko, and Stephen Jordheim. While at the University, he held chairs in the Wind Ensemble playing under Craig Kirchhoff, Jerry Luckhardt, and Frank Battisti. He was awarded principle saxophone in the 2008 Minnesota Collegiate Honor Band. Markus has also studied conducting privately with Jerry Luckhardt and voice with Jonathon Ten-Brink. In his free time, Markus is an avid slalom water-skier, and off-road cyclist.
Markus is pursuing a Masters of Music Degree in Conducting at UNLV, attempting to become a third generation wind conductor.
