Kauri Koizumi
Masters Graduate Assistant
Hawaii Local Kauri Koizumi was born and raised on the island of Oahu, HI. Currently, she is a Master's candidate with a concentration in Wind Band Conducting. She was a TA for the UNLV “Star of Nevada” Marching Band as well as the “Runnin’ Rebels” Basketball Pep Band and currently is the manager for the UNLV Wind Orchestra as well as a co-conductor for the UNLV New Horizons band and the UNLV Symphonic Winds
Along side with working with the bands, Koizumi has graduated with a B.M. in Music Education (2021) from UNLV. During her time in her undergraduate, Koizumi has taken conducting lessons from the Director of Bands at UNLV, Professor Thomas Leslie. As a flute player, Koizumi is a student of Dr. John McMurtery and a former student of Dr. Jennifer
Grim and Principle Flutist of the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra, Ms. Susan McGinn. Koizumi is a 2017 alumna from the Pearl
City High School, where she was an avid student conductor. Today, Koizumi is heavily involved with the music programs in Hawaii as an avid music educator and flute teacher.
