Christopher Massa is a Doctoral Graduate Assistant for the Division of Wind Band Studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he is pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree with a focus in Trumpet. 

 

Chris is active as a Trumpet Player, Composer, Arranger, Songwriter. He played in Frankie Moreno Band for almost 4 years headlining the Stratosphere, Golden Nugget, and Planet Hollywood on the Las Vegas Strip. He has performed in Australia, South Korea, Japan, Europe, Mexico, and extensively across the USA. Notable performances as a trumpet player include: Frankie Moreno, Vintage Trouble, Graham Russell, Ty Taylor, Bernie Dressel, Jason Paige, Righteous Brothers. As a songwriter he has placed a couple songs on TBS on the show Cougar Town. He continues to write, compose, arrange, and play as a freelance musician on the West Coast.

 

Chris earned his Master’s Degree in Jazz Theory and Composition from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and his Bachelor of Arts in Trumpet Performance from Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota under Dr. Grant Manhart.
